Democrat Party tribalism

"The Democratic Party - and Hillary Clinton, a great champion of this - has been advocating that every group in America practice identity politics, except white heterosexual males," said Professor Morici."Now, for the metrosexuals that live in New York City and go to Columbia University and get jobs on Wall Street and make lots of money, they can afford to ignore it and just say, ‘Well, you know, I live a privileged life. This is the price of doing it.’ But you know, if you’re a mother with two sons in Michigan and the factory’s closed and your husband’s unemployed, and you send your kids to the public schools and they confront a well-oiled machine to keep down white males, you’re gonna vote the other way. This was a motherhood issue as much as anything else," he said.  "That’s why she didn’t get those women voters among folks that had not graduated college in those parts of the country. Her form of feminism discriminates against their sons. It’s racist. It’s sexist. My university practices it.  Just about every university in the country practices it," Morici lamented.

"When he (Barack Obama) was elected in 2008, and when he came to power in 2009, he had a super majority in the Senate, and he had a large majority in the House.   And the state legislators and governorships were about even.   In the space of 8 years, Obama lost the House and lost it quite soon in 2010.   He lost the Senate, not just the supermajority, but the Senate itself.    2/3 of the State Legislatures are Republican.   Of the 50 governorships, 35 or 36 are Republican.  The Supreme Court is now definitely, with the appointment of Justice Gorsatch(?), conservative, and there may be another appointment coming up with Justice Kennedy, and may be another, even, with Justice Ginsburg.  My point is that as popular as Barack Obama was,  he really destroyed the Democtratic Party at every level, local, state and national.  And then in addition to that, he created a political paradime for Democrats that said, 'play up the identity politics, where your outwards appearance is essential, not incidental to who you are'.  So there was the transgender vote, there was the gay vote, there was the women's vote, there was the black vote, there was the Hispanic vote.   And we're going to glue them altogether and have a permanent majority.  And of course, we're going to rely on inordinant regisstration, that we've never seen before, by African-Americans... who will come out en masse, and they're gonna come out and vote for people like Barack Obama.   But that was not tranferable to a 68 yo, white, millionaire woman like Hillary Clinton.  But the downside of it was, so when you say that who you are and what you look like is more important than your inner self, you turn off people not of your tribe.   And so what Barack Obama was doing was he was bequething to Hillary Clinton the anger of these critical swing states of working class people who didn't think they'd fit any of Obama's categories, while at the same time, African-Americans and Hispanics took the President up that you vote for people who look like yourself, and you don't vote for people who don't.  So, they did not come out in numbers that were necessary in those states to elect Hillary Clinton."  source
